Fynbos Estate, situated in the beautiful Paardeberg near Malmesbury in the Swartland, is home to Dragonridge Wines. It is located just an hour from Cape Town and offers comfortable spacious country accommodation with stunning views of the valley, vineyards, and the mountain nature reserve.
The farm accommodation comprises cottages and houses that cater for various groups, ranging from couples to families, groups of friends, wedding and celebration guests, and large groups of up to 45 people for workshops and retreats. The accommodation options include an original Victorian Farm House, Honey Badger House, Caracal Cottage, Black Eagle House, and Owl Cottage. In total, the estate can accommodate 45 people sharing.
There are plenty of outdoor activities available, such as walks in the nature reserve, bird watching, mountain cycling, swimming in the pool at the foot of the mountain, and relaxing on the many verandas. The estate also features lawns, open spaces, a jungle gym, and the opportunity to interact with rescued animals, making it a haven for children. Pets are welcome in selected cottages.
While the accommodation is set up for self-catering, the estate offers delicious country meals for groups of 10 people or more. Wine tastings of their naturally made wine, in the traditional style of the 1900s, are available with their winemaker by appointment.
Cell phone reception is available in or near each building, and a television with DVD is available in the farmhouse only. A screen for video/DVD is also provided in Honey Badger. Wi-Fi connectivity with free unlimited internet access is available in all accommodation, workshop, and function areas.
The estate is pet-friendly in selected accommodations, with a pet rate of R50 per day per pet. It can accommodate up to 100 guests under cover, with ample outdoor space for a tent extension. A large garden and a chapel for indoor ceremonies are also available. Several different catering options are available.
Children of all ages are welcome, with a jungle gym, large lawn areas, and a swimming pool available for their enjoyment.
Black Eagle House, situated further up the valley from Honey Badger and Caracal, offers spacious, luxurious country accommodation with private/en-suite bathrooms. It is ideal for four couples and families or for workshops with up to 10 participants (sharing) or four singles. A large double-volume living area is filled with light, with lower windows overlooking the valley and mountain, and high windows offering views of mountain tops and wide blue skies. The house offers stunning 360-degree views of the Swartland and Paardeberg, as well as unpolluted starry skies. It features four double bedrooms with private bathrooms or en-suites, is surrounded by a protea garden, has an open-plan living area with a kitchen, and verandas on all sides.
