Galilee Cottages @ Mara Farm

Galilee Cottages @ Mara Farm is located on the outskirts of Fouriesburg, close to the Lesotho border and deep in the heart of the Eastern Free State highlands of South Africa. It is a special guest farm where the beautiful homestead is in the final stages of conversion into comfortable, homely and affordable accommodation and events venue for groups and individual parties.

The new owners and hosts, Mamatela and Daughter Rethabile, have more than 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, ensuring a comfortable stay for guests. They offer home-cooked meals, with more than 20 years of catering experience, providing delicious African meals or any cuisine of choice. Small functions, picnic baskets, themed dinners, and parties are expertly catered.

Mara Farm overlooks the majestic Maluti Mountains, and its view tower is the ideal spot to take in the beauty of valleys and sandstone precipices over a champagne breakfast or leisurely sundowners after a day of exploring the fascinating region. The farm also offers tours to Lesotho, allowing guests to experience the Mountain Kingdom in its entirety, including Afri Ski resort (May-August), Katse Dam (1-day trip), Liphofung caves and Selomo Stalagmites (1-day trip), and the Kome caves in Teyateyaneng (1-day trip). Clarens, en-route to the Golden Gate National Park, is a thirty-minute drive away, as are Bethlehem and Ficksburg, home of the Cherry Festival. The Caledonspoort border post to Lesotho is just 8km away, making Mara Farm a convenient and efficient choice for border crossing with less traffic.

One of the cottages at Galilee Cottages @ Mara Farm offers a king-sized bed and has its own kitchen to prepare convenience food. It also features its own porch to enjoy tea or relax and unwind.
