Gecko Creek Wilderness Lodge is a self-catering accommodation located on a 517-hectare private nature reserve in the Cederberg region. It provides accommodation in cabins and tents overlooking the valleys and mountains. The lodge offers full self-catering facilities and prepared meals upon request.
The features of the lodge include a cool lapa for gathering and cooking, a fire-warmed open-air boma, a stunning salt-water swimming pool, and outstanding ablution facilities. The lodge borders the 80,000-hectare Cederberg Reserve, which is known for its awe-inspiring rock formations, bushman caves, and endless hiking trails. The area offers solitude, grandeur, and a setting reminiscent of ancient and mystical times, with magical sunrises and sunsets. The Olifants River is located a short distance away, allowing for idyllic swimming and picnics.
The Cederberg region is home to various wildlife, including the regal Cape leopard, baboons, lynx, antelope, and 165 bird species, such as the magnificent Black eagle and Eagle owls. Economical scenic flights over the West Coast and Cederberg, as well as an award-winning vineyard and horseback riding, are available as optional day trips nearby.
The lodge does not allow children under the age of 16 years or any form of pets. Camp sites with communal ablutions, cooking facilities in the Lapa, and braai facilities in the Boma are available.
