The Glen Reenen Rest Camp is situated in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park, which is located in the rolling foothills of the Maluti Mountains in the north eastern Free State province of South Africa. The park experiences mild highveld summers with the possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon and cold winters with occasional snowfall, transforming the park into a white wonderland.

The Glen Reenen Rest Camp offers accommodation options such as rondavels, longdavels, and guest cottages. For those who prefer a more natural camping experience, caravan and camping sites are available. The park provides various activities, including abseiling, canoeing, game drives, hiking and nature walks, horse riding, and swimming.

It is important to note that pets are not allowed in the park. Outdoor lighting in the camps is limited, so visitors are advised to carry a torch or headlamp when walking outside at night. Vehicle repair, medical, post office, and police services are available in Clarens (17 km) or Bethlehem (approximately 60 km). Visitors should bring essential items such as hats, walking shoes, sunblock, cameras, binoculars, and wildlife reference books. Hikers on day and overnight trails must carry sufficient water, and visitors should pack cool and light clothing for summer and warm clothing for winter, as the area is prone to sudden weather changes.

The rates for accommodation are subject to the number of adults and children staying, and quotes will include the 1% Community Levy but exclude daily conservation fees, which are payable directly to the camp upon arrival. It is important to note that there is currently construction work taking place adjacent to the Glen Reenen campsite, with an estimated completion date of September 2020. SANParks apologizes for any inconvenience and disturbances caused during the construction process.

The park offers unique surroundings, serene settings, superb facilities, and enthusiastically helpful staff, guaranteeing a memorable and gorgeous day. With a variety of accommodation options ranging from basic to luxury, visitors are spoiled for choice. The park features two self-drive loops that are tarred and well-maintained, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of the park by car without the need for four-wheel drive vehicles. However, visitors must supply their own camping equipment and tents for the camping sites, as there is no power provided. Additional vehicles will be charged a fee per night, and the compulsory SANParks community levy will be included in the quote, while the SANParks daily conservation fees are payable upon arrival at the camp.
