Glenmore Sands

Glenmore Sands Resort is situated seven kilometers north of Port Edward and approximately 30 minutes south of Margate. Located on Glenmore Beach, the resort boasts magnificent sea views from most of its units. The property has a rich history, with its original structure dating back to the early 1900s when it was known as the Green Dolphin Hotel. In 1983, it was converted into self-catering units, though the reception area still maintains its historical architecture.

The resort preserves its heritage through a collection of old photographs and artifacts on display. Its well-maintained gardens serve as a protected habitat for a colony of Hyrax rock rabbits (dassies) and is frequently visited by Vervet Monkeys. The property offers various accommodation options, from cozy apartments to studios, accommodating between 2 to 6 people. Units feature modern amenities including fully equipped kitchens, comfortable living areas, TV with DSTV, and Wi-Fi access.

Recreational facilities include a games room with TV games, pool table, and table tennis, plus a jungle gym near the swimming pool for children. Security is prioritized with overnight watchmen and 16 CCTV cameras. The resort offers year-round attractions, including a swimming pool with a children's section and access to a netted beach. The area is rich in wildlife, with resident Fish Eagles often spotted near the Tongazi River, particularly during early mornings or cloudy days.

Glenmore Beach provides excellent opportunities for rod and dive fishing, and its location on the Wild Coast makes it a notable spot for finding historical artifacts from shipwrecks, including porcelain pieces and trader beads. The coastal location offers seasonal wildlife viewing opportunities, including dolphin sightings during the sardine run (May to October) and whale watching as Hump Back and Southern Right Whales migrate along the coast throughout the year.
