Gowrie Farm Golf Lodge is situated in Nottingham Road, in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands region, within the context of a working farm. The estate is surrounded by trout dams, lush bush, and kikuyu pastures, creating a tranquil setting that offers a respite from city life. The golf course, designed by Guy Smith, has been built in a classic style with tees close to the ground, gently undulating fairways, and push-up greens. It has a par 70, 9-hole layout with two additional holes, providing variety and an 18-hole experience.

The magnificent stone Clubhouse features five luxury, 4-star double rooms with views of the lake and golf course, operated on a bed and breakfast basis. Lunches are served at Halfway House, while evening meals can be enjoyed at local restaurants within a 5-kilometer radius. Overlooking the 6th green is the Old Tom Morris Cottage, which offers self-catering accommodation for up to eight guests, with four en-suite bedrooms, an open-plan lounge, dining room, and kitchen area with views of the golf course and Clubhouse.

Being situated in the heart of South Africa's premier arts and crafts routes of the Midlands Meander, Gowrie Farm offers a variety of activities. Visitors can indulge in relaxation and pampering at nearby health spas. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy cycling on quiet roads, mountain biking routes, and hiking trails in the nearby foothills of the Drakensberg. The estate itself has been identified as a birding hotspot with over 200 species.

Adjacent to the golf course is Gowrie Village, an authentic village comprising 134 residential units, shops, a gymnasium, a bowling green, a coffee shop, and a local sports club welcoming visitors. Gowrie Golf Lodge provides venues for every occasion, including weddings, with a glassed-in veranda overlooking the golf course and Clubhouse Lake. The luxury double rooms offer stunning views of the golf course, surrounding farmlands, and Clubhouse Lake, featuring flat-screen TVs, underfloor heating, and en-suite bathrooms with baths and showers.
