The Grand Du00e9dale Country House is a historic manor house situated on the Doolhof Wine Estate, dating back to the early 1700s. It has recently been restored to its former Cape Dutch elegance and now houses six individually designed and appointed en-suite bedrooms, offering 5-star luxuries and service. The property also features a free-standing thatched cottage, which serves as the seventh bedroom and is ideal for honeymooners or guests seeking additional privacy.

The Grand Du00e9dale Country House believes in providing luxury with ample space and has created a large veranda, two dining areas, a library and tea lounge, a TV lounge with international channels, two conservatories, extensive landscaped gardens, and a 15-meter pool, ensuring a high level of privacy and comfort for guests.

Situated in a long valley just below the Bainskloof Pass, the estate offers a wide variety of outdoor activities and serves as an ideal base from which to explore the Cape region. The name 'Doolhof' is an Afrikaans word meaning 'labyrinth,' given by the early settlers of the 1700s due to the many hills and vales in the area, allowing only one way in and out. 'Grand Du00e9dale' translates to 'great labyrinth.'

Guests are invited to experience the mystical Doolhof Valley, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery, vineyards, and mysterious forests upon entering the romantic country road leading to the estate. The gates with the great 'D' lead past manicured horse paddocks and rows of white roses, revealing the beauty and elegance of the property.

The Grand Du00e9dale Country House offers a delicious 'Cap Classique' breakfast with homemade treats and cooked dishes, light lunches and snacks throughout the day, picnic baskets or backpacks by prior arrangement, and a high tea buffet with homemade delicacies in the afternoons. Guests can enjoy a sundown aperitif or wine tasting, followed by an imaginative three-course table d'hu00f4te menu prepared by the resident chef, emphasizing game and seafood with locally sourced ingredients prepared in a Cape idiom.

For active travelers, the 380 hectares of mountains, vineyards, and fynbos, stretching across Bainskloof Pass, are ideal for hiking, mountain biking, and horse riding. Larger groups can also arrange clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, or paragliding on the estate. Many other activities, such as trout fishing, hot air-ballooning, or canyoning, are available nearby, and some of the most beautiful golf courses are within a 45-minute drive.

A treatment room by the pool area is available for a wide range of stress-relieving and invigorating spa treatments performed by professional mobile therapists. Wedding facilities are available for 2 to 120 guests, with the option to hold the ceremony on the veranda or in the gardens. The tasting room courtyard is ideal for wedding receptions, with the mountains and gardens creating a perfect photographic backdrop. Please note that the spa is for the exclusive use of in-house guests.

The guest rooms at the Grand Du00e9dale Country House measure 50 square meters, are located on the ground floor with direct access to the patio area, and feature extra-length king or twin beds, free WiFi, air conditioning, TV, phone, safe, tea and coffee tray, hair dryer, and a seating area. The en-suite bathrooms have twin basins, separate shower and bath, underfloor heating, and heated towel rails.
