Green Lantern Inn

The Green Lantern Inn is a beautifully restored establishment that was originally established in 1892 as The Coach Inn. It offers South African-friendly rates, with bed and breakfast included, as well as an on-site pub and restaurant. The inn is situated in the quaint Van Reenen Village, which is halfway between Durban and Johannesburg, and approximately 380 kilometers from Bloemfontein. It is conveniently located just 1 kilometer off the N3 at the top of Van Reenen's pass, making it an ideal halfway stopover.

The inn features a variety of rooms, all of which are spotlessly clean and fitted with modern heating and air conditioning for guest comfort. Each room is individually decorated in an olde country style, offering a refreshing alternative to the anonymity and sterility of big chain hotels. The Green Lantern Inn also serves as a fantastic venue for weddings, family reunions, parties, and functions, with the capacity to accommodate up to 150 guests. The inn can accommodate 70 guests for overnight stays, while additional guests can be accommodated in comfortable accommodations nearby.

The Half Way Noggin Pub is an attraction in its own right, offering a cozy atmosphere with a roaring fire and a large selection of refreshments. Guests can also meet Bo-Jangles, the resident donkey. The country kitchen offers delicious food throughout the day in the restaurant or in the English country garden, which features a farmyard and children's playground. The new owners have restored the grand old lady to her prime, making it a worthy destination for visitors.
