Grootbos Nature Reserve is a magnificent 1,700-hectare sanctuary located 160 kilometers from Cape Town en route to the Garden Route. Positioned in the fynbos-covered hills overlooking Walker Bay, the reserve provides stunning vistas of coastal dunes, ocean expanses, and the distant Cape of Good Hope.
The reserve boasts exceptional biodiversity, hosting 765 flower species, including six that were first discovered within its boundaries. Spanning over 2,500 hectares of untouched wilderness, Grootbos serves as a sanctuary for various indigenous wildlife, including bushbuck, porcupine, grey duiker, and lynx. Visitors can explore an extensive network of trails weaving through fynbos vegetation and coastal forest.
