Grootbos Nature Reserve

The Grootbos Nature Reserve is situated 160 kilometers from Cape Town on the way to the Garden Route. It spans over 1,700 hectares and showcases nature as it was intended to be experienced. The reserve is located in the fynbos-clad hills above Walker Bay, offering breathtaking views of dunes, sea, and the distant Cape of Good Hope.

The reserve is known for its rich flora, with over 765 flower species, six of which were discovered at Grootbos. It features over 2,500 hectares of pristine wilderness, providing a haven for various smaller animals such as bushbuck, porcupine, grey duiker, and lynx. Visitors can explore the many trails that wind through the fynbos and coastal forest, immersing themselves in the tranquility and serenity of the surroundings.

In addition to outdoor activities, Grootbos offers a variety of rejuvenating spa treatments, ranging from shiatsu to full facials, designed to pamper the body and soul. The 4x4 Flower Safari is a popular way to discover the scale and splendor of the Grootbos Private Nature Reserve.

The reserve caters to families with children by providing a range of activities, including cave tours, horse riding, bird watching, and quad biking. It is situated along the beautiful Overberg coastline, where the cool Atlantic Ocean meets the warm Indian Ocean.

The accommodation at Grootbos features spacious rooms and suites ranging from 75 to 85 square meters.
