Hamelin Guest House is a luxurious six double-bedroom retreat located in Durban, South Africa. It was originally built as two maisonettes in the early sixties by a gentleman of German origin who once served in the harbour service as a health officer responsible for eradicating vermin from the port as a rat catcher. The house was named Hamelin after the renowned story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, in honor of his important work.

Situated on the picturesque southern side of the port, Hamelin Guest House offers unrivaled access to both the bustling harbor and the vibrant city center. It is located in a serene, green suburb on Durban's most prominent natural landmark, the Bluff, providing a tranquil sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The Bluff is a breathtaking headland that forms the southern quayside of the port, boasting several charming suburbs and pristine beaches perfect for sunbathing, surfing, and fishing. The area is also home to local wildlife, including playful vervet monkeys and curious mongoose, offering a unique and unforgettable holiday experience.

Hamelin Guest House prioritizes comfort and convenience for its guests. Although all rooms are non-smoking, designated areas are available for smoking guests. Braai/BBQ facilities are provided, ensuring that every meal is a celebration of flavor and camaraderie. The establishment is warmly inclusive and welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community. Its convenient location appeals to business executives seeking hassle-free travel to King Shaka International Airport, with easy access to the outer ring road, allowing guests to skip CBD traffic congestion.

Guests can venture just a short distance south to discover the stunning southern coast beaches of Amanzimtoti and Kingsburgh, or explore the lower southern beaches of Kwa Zulu Natal, all within easy reach from the guest house. For those seeking an inland adventure, the possibilities are limitless, with options to embark on a scenic hour's drive to explore the breathtaking game reserves of Tala Valley, home to the endangered rhino, or the Valley of a 1000 Hills, part of the midlands meander route, where guests can marvel at spectacular views and discover excellent restaurants and arts and crafts along the way.

All rooms at Hamelin Guest House have double beds that can be rearranged as two single beds, en-suite shower and toilet facilities, tea and coffee-making facilities, TV with DSTV, and Wi-Fi access.
