Hilltop Cottage

Farraway Farm is located in an area with a picturesque landscape, featuring a valley with views extending tens of kilometers down and mountains in Lesotho in the background. The farm encompasses 90 hectares and borders Parks Board land that is adjacent to Lesotho. The Mzimude River runs for over a kilometer through the farm, and there is also a dam on the property. The farm's circumference is approximately 5 kilometers.

The farm has two cottages available for accommodation: Hilltop Cottage and Shepherd's Cottage. Hilltop Cottage is situated on top of a hill, offering an unparalleled view of the surrounding area. It is a luxurious cottage with two en-suite bedrooms (one with a king-size bed and the other with two single beds), a large living area, and a fully equipped open-plan kitchen for self-catering. The cottage has its own fenced garden of approximately one acre and is located about 200 meters from the main farmhouse.

Shepherd's Cottage is a one-bedroom cottage that was completed in September 2018. Both cottages have verandas with braai areas, wood-burning fires (with complementary firewood), and Openview satellite TV. The cottages are situated approximately 400 meters apart, ensuring complete privacy. They are also fenced and pet-friendly.

The farm is completely off the grid, providing a loadshedding-free experience. Visitors may spot wild eland and reedbuck from the neighboring Parks Board land coming to drink from the river on the farm. At night, the sounds of jackals howling can often be heard.

Guests need only bring their food, cameras, and walking shoes, and optionally, some carrots to win over the affection of the farm's horses.
