Hluhluwe Country Cottages is an award-winning accommodation establishment located in the heart of the Elephant Coast region of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The estate features six well-appointed cottages, each equipped with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and tea/coffee making facilities. The self-catering units offer open-plan lounge/dining areas with fully fitted kitchens, DSTV, and braai facilities. All rooms are serviced daily and include towels and bedding, with secure parking available on the premises.
The property doubles as a game farm where guests can observe various antelope species including Common Reed Buck, Nyala, Impala, and Red & Grey Duiker. Part of the farm is dedicated to mango cultivation and houses the world-renowned Ilala Basket Weavers, complete with a Zulu Artifacts Museum, Crafters Village Art Gallery, and an A La Carte café.
The location serves as an ideal base for exploring nearby attractions including the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve, home to the Big Five and famous for its white rhino conservation efforts. Day trips to St. Lucia, Cape Vidal, Sodwana Bay, and Mkuze Game Reserve are easily accessible. The region is also recognized as a premier birding destination in South Africa, featuring unique species such as Yellow-throated, Pink-throated, and Orange-throated Long Claw birds found together in the Hluhluwe River Flood Plain.
