Horseshoe Game Reserve

Horseshoe Game Reserve is an eco-friendly, self-catering establishment located 20 km from East London in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. The property is nestled on a hillside with views over a lush green valley, offering secluded accommodation options including a cabin and multiple tent camps.

The main cabin is fully self-catering and operates on wind turbine power, making it immune to load shedding. The facility runs sustainably, though hairdryers are not permitted due to power constraints. The property offers two distinct tent camp areas: a secluded bush camp and a camp near the entrance. The bush camp operates on 12V solar power with basic lighting and limited charging facilities, while the entrance camp has access to 220V electricity in communal areas.

Accommodation options include a fully equipped cabin and nine self-catering tents spread across two camps. The tents feature various sleeping configurations, from double beds to bunk beds, with communal kitchen and ablution facilities. The communal areas are equipped with gas stoves, refrigeration, and basic kitchen amenities. Water on the property is brackish, so guests are advised to bring their own drinking water or purchase it at reception.

The reserve offers various activities including bird watching, game viewing, cycling, mountain biking, game drives, and unguided walks. Visitors can observe diverse wildlife including giraffe, eland, zebra, bushbuck, and numerous bird species. Due to the terrain, high clearance vehicles are recommended for access, particularly to reach the top tent camp.

All accommodation options include braai facilities, and wood can be purchased on-site. The tents are furnished with various bed configurations and share communal bathrooms with hot water facilities. Parking is available throughout the property, with distances varying between parking areas and accommodation units.
