Ibenstein Safaris is a family-owned business located in the Khomas region of Namibia, situated just one hour's drive from Windhoek. The 15,000-hectare farm, positioned on the edge of the Kalahari, features diverse landscapes of grass savannas and African mountains.
The property's rich history begins with August Stauch, discoverer of Namibia's first diamonds, who purchased the farm in the early 20th century. Through family inheritance, the farm passed to his daughter Marianne and her Russian husband Nicolai Krafft. Initially known for Karakul sheep breeding, the farm later transformed under their son Michael's leadership to focus on cattle breeding and game farming. In 2000, René Krafft, the current owner, took over operations, expanding the tourism aspects while maintaining the established Simmental Stud, which holds historical significance as one of the first successful Simmental breeding programs outside Europe.
The safari lodge offers comfortable accommodation in newly built chalets, each featuring en-suite bathrooms and adaptable king/twin beds with views of a lit waterhole. The property includes four distinct units: Owl, Camelthorn, Zebra, and Francolin, accommodating between two to four guests each. Facilities include an honesty bar and library for guests' convenience.
Ibenstein Safaris provides various activities and experiences, including game drives, sundowners, and microlight flying. The location serves as an ideal starting and ending point for Namibian safari adventures, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the country's breathtaking landscapes and diverse fauna and flora while enjoying a relaxing atmosphere.
