Meerensee, Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal

Imvubu Lodge, which translates to "hippo" in Zulu, was inspired by the famous Huberta the Hippo, who undertook a historic journey from Zululand to East London. The lodge is tucked away in the lush greenbelt zone of Richards Bay, adjacent to the scenic Lake Menywa and the unspoilt beaches of the Indian Ocean.

The accommodation offers luxurious one and two bedroom chalets, with both self-catering and non self-catering options. The single self-catering chalet can accommodate two people, while the double chalets can accommodate up to five people. All self-catering chalets are fully equipped with everything needed for a well-deserved break or a good night's rest. Each chalet is secluded and equipped with air-conditioning, DStv, and braai facilities.

The lodge is situated on a 20-hectare property with a wildlife sanctuary surrounding it. It is in close proximity to the Tuzi Gazi Waterfront, the international heritage site of Lake St Lucia, and two world-class game reserves boasting the Big 5. Imvubu Lodge is also close to the CBD as well as the Richards Bay airport. The lodge's ambience is considered ideal for hosting weddings, and the staff is prepared to facilitate beach ceremonies and accommodate unique requirements.

Imvubu Lodge offers various amenities to keep guests entertained, including a pool, adventure golf, bird watching, pool tables, a jungle gym, table tennis, darts, trampolines, and paintball. The lodge is an ocean-front retreat with a private beach exclusively for its guests. The self-catering chalets consist of two en-suite bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with two single beds), a fully-equipped kitchen, and a lounge with a sleeper couch. The chalets also feature barbecue facilities and are air-conditioned.
