Intaba Thulile, meaning "Peaceful Mountain," is a 450-hectare private game farm nestled within the Magaliesburg Nature Conservancy. Located approximately 80km west of Johannesburg and 90km from Pretoria, it provides an ideal weekend retreat from urban life. The property forms part of the historic Magaliesburg Mountain range, which began its formation over two billion years ago.
The reserve features rolling savannah grassland plains, pristine bush, and distinctive suikerbos and kiepersol trees, all overlooked by impressive amber cliffs. The area boasts remarkable biodiversity, including abundant birdlife, various buck species, warthogs, jackals, ostriches, and a pair of giraffe. Wildlife enthusiasts can observe cape vultures and black eagles soaring overhead, while mountain reedbuck, grey rhebok, duiker, klipspringers, baboons, genets, Cape hares, dassies, and porcupines inhabit the terrain.
The accommodation comprises self-catering chalets, each featuring two bedrooms (one with a queen-size bed, one with two single beds), a fully equipped kitchenette, and a bathroom with both bath and shower facilities. Each unit includes quality linen, towels, and all necessary kitchen equipment. The chalets are designed for comfort with heaters for winter and spacious wooden decks offering magnificent mountain views. Each unit has its own braai/barbecue area.
Facilities and activities include hiking trails, mountain biking paths, a communal swimming pool, and a shared lapa area. The property implements strict COVID-19 safety protocols, including private check-in procedures and thorough sanitization between guests. The reserve's location provides easy access to local attractions including the Elephant Sanctuary, Van Gaalens Cheese Farm, and the Cradle of Humankind.
