Jack's Camp

Lodge

Rated 4.7 in 48 Reviews

Jack's Camp is a legendary luxury safari destination located in Botswana's Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. Following a complete rebuild in 2021, the camp maintains its iconic 1940s campaign style while offering enhanced amenities. The property features nine spacious tents, including seven twins and two doubles, each measuring 270 square meters with private plunge pools and sophisticated interiors adorned with rich textiles and Natural History Museum cabinets.

The camp is situated within a one-million-acre private wildlife reserve and offers unique year-round desert experiences. During the dry season (April to October), guests can explore the shimmering salt pans, while the green season (November to March) transforms the landscape into lush grasslands that host Africa's second-largest mammal migration.

Activities include guided quad biking, bushman walks, desert game drives, meerkat encounters, and horseback riding. Wildlife viewing opportunities include brown hyena, oryx, Kalahari lion, and nocturnal species such as aardvark and honey badger. The camp's facilities include a museum, library, antique pool table, and a distinctive Persian tea tent.

The property's history dates back to the 1960s when adventurer Jack Bousfield established the original camp. After his passing in 1992, his son Ralph and partner Catherine established the Uncharted Africa Safari Company, developing Jack's Camp into the sophisticated desert retreat it is today while maintaining its authentic character and commitment to conservation in the region.
