Kalahari Trails is situated on a private nature reserve just 35 km south of the main entrance gate to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park at Twee Rivieren, in the heart of the red Kalahari dune fields. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore the awe-inspiring landscape on foot, where the sky and rolling sand dunes create an impression of limitless space, and the bowl of the heavens stretches from horizon to horizon.

At Kalahari Trails, visitors can experience the Kalahari in a way that is not possible from a car. Although the local game species and nearly 200 species of birds are present, it is the small creatures that make this desert unique. Guided walks and drives are offered to learn about and appreciate the amazing biodiversity of the region.

Kalahari Trails provides a wide range of accommodation at reasonable prices. The main guest house offers impressive views of the Nossob riverbed and the dune fields stretching to the horizon. It features a large veranda where guests can sit in comfort, and visitors are welcome to use the braai facilities. In front of the house, there is a small waterhole where flocks of desert birds come to drink every day. Additionally, there is a small botanical garden with typical plants found on the Reserve. For chilly winter evenings, there is a large, comfortable living room with a fireplace and a small dining area seating up to 12 people.

Kalahari Trails is set up for self-catering, but groups can be catered for with advance notice of at least 10 days. There is a large communal kitchen fully equipped with refrigerators, freezers, gas cookers, a microwave oven, toaster, cooking utensils, dishes, cutlery, and glasses. A small shop sells basic foods, snacks, a wide array of soft drinks or beers, meat, and wood for braai fires. Guests are recommended to bring their fresh food, as it is difficult to obtain in the desert. Upington has several supermarkets with a wide choice of available foodstuffs.

The dune-side campsite can accommodate up to 20 guests comfortably and offers an ablution block, a kitchen area, and a lapa with a fireplace.
