Kaoko Mopane Lodge & Campsite

Kaoko Mopane Lodge & Campsite is a serene accommodation establishment situated in the remote Kaokoland area of Namibia. The property features four luxury rooms positioned along a dry riverbank, offering guests privacy and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The location, adjacent to a tributary of the Hoarusib River, provides excellent bird-watching opportunities.

The facility includes six well-appointed individual campsites, each thoughtfully equipped with private amenities including a braai (barbecue) facility, washbasin, shower, and toilet. True to the Kaokoland region's character, the campsites are generously spaced to ensure guest privacy and maintain the relaxed atmosphere characteristic of Namibian camping experiences.

Located near Opuwo, the capital of the Kunene Region in north-western Namibia, the lodge is approximately 720 kilometers north-northwest of Windhoek. Opuwo, with its population of around 20,000, serves as the region's commercial center. Under the ownership of Gerrit & Jana Schoeman, the lodge has evolved from a simple stopover point between Kaokoland and Etosha National Park to become a destination in its own right. The establishment offers various guided experiences, including Himba tours, fountain tours, and combined Himba, fountain, and fossil tours.
