Karongwe River Lodge is situated within the Karongwe Private Game Reserve, capturing the essence of the African bush. It offers an enchanting view over the Makhutsi river. The spacious lounge leads onto a vast deck, allowing for endless opportunities to view elephants and grazing antelope or relax beside the pool before embarking on a late afternoon safari in an open game drive vehicle. The safari traverses over 9000 hectares of supreme African bushveld, tracking the Big Five.

Guests can enjoy Pan African cuisine under the stars in a rustic Boma or the beautifully appointed dining room. The lodge offers 11 spacious and air-conditioned suites, each with its own viewing deck and en-suite bathroom. There are 5 Luxury Suites, 2 Family Suites, 2 Executive Suites, and 2 Presidential Suites, with the latter featuring private plunge pools.

The rate includes all meals, teas, coffees, snacks, accommodation, dawn and dusk safaris in open Land Rovers, limited drinks on dusk safaris, Wi-Fi, fees for 2020, and any transfers from the Southern boom gate. It excludes airport and road transfers, mini bar, curio, telephone, spa and laundry expenses, premium and imported brands.

The lodge has a single supplement of 40%. Children aged 0-2 years are accommodated complimentary, while ages 3-11 are charged 50% of the adult tariff when sharing with adults. All children are charged the Reserve Fees. Those aged 12 and above are considered adults. Children under 6 are not permitted on Game Drives. Bushwalks are an optional extra available on the standard package and subject to conditions and additional costs.

The Executive Suites feature en-suite bathrooms with separate toilets, double vanities, walk-in showers, and Victorian slipper baths. The rooms can be configured as queen or twin beds, with mosquito nets and crisp linen. Guests can enjoy private decks overlooking the Makhutsi River, where kudu, nyala, bushbuck, elephants, and even leopards may be spotted.
