Karoo Gariep Tented Camp

The Karoo Gariep Tented Camp caters to individuals who seek a more rustic camping experience, particularly those planning an extended stay in the area. The tented accommodation sleeps four guests in two separate compartments. One compartment features a double bed, while the other has two single beds. The tent is well-furnished and includes amenities such as full floor carpeting. The ablution facilities are conveniently located just 30 meters away from the tent.

The tent is situated within the New Holme Guest House garden, offering a degree of privacy from the main lodge area. Guests have the option to book meals at New Holme. In the late afternoon, at 5 PM during winter and 6 PM in summer, a guide will take guests on a relaxing drive to the hippo pool, where they can enjoy sundowners while watching the only hippos in the Karoo and learning about their fascinating story.

The camp offers opportunities to experience the nightlife of the Karoo, with potential sightings of various nocturnal animals, such as aardwolves, Cape foxes, bat-eared foxes, African wildcats, aardvarks, porcupines, striped polecats, and African striped weasels. Families of all ages are welcome, and the camp provides both fixed tents and camping sites with ablution facilities and braai areas. The tents have two compartments, one with a double bed and one with two single beds, as well as power points, carpets, and linens and towels provided. The ablution area includes a shower, toilet, and basin. Lunch and dinner are available for booking.
