The area is known for its spectacular Swartberg Pass, completed in 1888 by Sir Thomas Bain, and its rich history and scenic beauty.

The accommodation at Karoo Lodge is located at No. 66 Church Street, easily identifiable by its signboard. Each suite has a private entrance, comfortable beds, a lounge, and a separate dressing area. The suites are equipped with amenities such as 100% cotton bed linen, goose feather and down or anti-allergic sponge pillows, bath sheets, toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar fridges, ceiling fans, and hairdryers. The bathrooms feature luxurious corner baths, large showers with beautiful floors adorned with local river pebbles, and continental design ceramics and faucets.

Karoo Lodge offers a free light breakfast of egg and bacon served between 7:30 and 9:00 AM, while a full English breakfast can be prepared and served by prior arrangement at an additional cost.
