Kathumzi Bed And Breakfast is situated on the Kalahari Golf and Hunting Estate, in Kathu, on the edge of the Kalahari Desert in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. Kathu, which means 'town under the trees' in the local language, is known as the iron ore capital of the Northern Cape and is surrounded by a camel thorn forest. The word 'umzi' in the establishment's name is derived from the Xhosa word for home, hence the name 'Kathumzi' translates to 'our home under the trees'.

Kathumzi offers warm hospitality in a relaxing and tranquil environment, with guests able to enjoy magical sunsets, an abundance of bird life, game viewing from their bedrooms, and breathtaking natural Kalahari surroundings. The accommodation comprises luxuriously appointed bedrooms, each air-conditioned and equipped with superior quality mattresses, 100-percent cotton percale linen, allergy-free duvets and pillows, electric blankets, and private outdoor showers for the summer months.

The Kalahari Golf and Hunting Estate, where Kathumzi is located, is situated in the largest camel thorn forest in the world and adjacent to a 2400-hectare game reserve. Guests can view game species such as Kudu, Oryx, Red Hartebeest, Waterbuck, Impala, and Springbok by appointment. The estate captures the spirit and depth of the breathtaking Kalahari landscape.

The Sishen Golf Course, designed by Bob Grimsdell, is a par 72, 18-hole golf course that winds its way through a 500-hectare camel thorn forest on the edge of the unique Kalahari Desert. Despite the arid surroundings, the course features lush green Kikuyu fairways and greens, providing an amazing setting for playing golf.
