Kazondwe Camp and Lodge is strategically located 16km from Kongola in the direction of Nkasa Rupara, positioned between Bwabwata and Mdumu National Parks. The establishment, which is accessible without a 4x4 vehicle, was developed by Nikolai and Aniela Allers and is managed by Susanne Allers and Mark Axford.
The property features five well-equipped campsites with power supply, each boasting its own ablution block and wash-up facilities. These sites are situated under large trees near a watering hole, offering excellent bird-watching opportunities. A bush pub sits along the water's edge, with beer on tap available for larger groups.
Perched on a natural dune overlooking the Kwando floodplain and a hippo pool, the lodge includes a Lapa and pool area. Visitors can often observe elephant and buffalo herds across the Bwabwata Park. The establishment offers various activities including boat trips, guided fishing tours, daytrips, and sundowner cruises.
The accommodation options include four twin tented units on the dune, each featuring private ablution facilities, bedside lamps, towels, and hot water supplied by a "donkie" system. These private units are protected by Zambezi-style reed walls. Additionally, two self-catering, air-conditioned studios are available, complete with showers, toilets, and fully equipped kitchens. A double-story treehouse provides an exclusive retreat option.
The unfenced camp allows for authentic wildlife experiences, with hippos maintaining the lawns and elephants frequently traversing the grounds. The main Lapa offers spectacular views over the Kwando floodplains and hippo pool. Activities include game drives to neighboring national parks, guided fishing expeditions on the Kwando River, and various cruise options.
