Khowarib Lodge

Khowarib Lodge and Safaris is situated on the banks of the Hoanib river within the spectacular Khowarib Gorge in northwest Namibia. The property features 14 elevated tented chalets and self-catering units, positioned on stilts over the riverbed, offering exceptional views of the opposing cliffs.

Located on the edge of Kaokoland, the lodge serves as an ideal base for exploring the remote northwest region, either independently or through guided tours. The surrounding Damaraland area offers various attractions, including desert-adapted elephants and Himba settlements within accessible distance.

The lodge's centerpiece is a traditional lapa, an expansive thatched structure built using local materials. The main complex includes a reception, bar, lounge, dining area, and curio shop, set against an impressive kopje backdrop. The veranda provides panoramic views of the gorge and surrounding landscape. The restaurant serves both buffet breakfast and three-course dinner menus under the Kaokoland sky.

Accommodation options include 12 en-suite tented twin or double rooms and three larger family units, each featuring a veranda overlooking the Hoanib riverbed and rustic, open-air bathrooms. The property also offers nine camping sites along the river, equipped with shade verandas, braai-pitches, wash-up basins, and 24/7 electricity, with shared ablutions.

Activities available include desert elephant tracking, nature drives, walking trails, bird watching, Himba cultural visits, and rock art excursions. The lodge also offers various safari packages in the Kunene region, including Desert Elephant Discovery, Kunene Explorer Safari, Kaokoland Classic Safari, and North-West Adventurer, with options for customized tours.
