Kimberley House is a gracious old house constructed in 1895 using existing rocks of the mountainside and local stone, in the tradition of Kalk Bay and St. James, the two neighbouring villages along the southern coastal road where it is situated. The house is filled with light and situated halfway up a cobbled cul-de-sac, a few metres from the sea in Kalk Bay.

The house has recently been completely refurbished but retains old Oregon pine floors, high ceilings, and other original features. It is simply but tastefully furnished and has an unfussy holiday feel. The spacious and airy house comprises three double bedrooms with en-suite showers and underfloor heating, a large living room with comfy sofas and a fireplace, a TV room with DStv, a sleeper couch and a bathroom, a 10-seater dining room table, an open-plan kitchen that is fully equipped with a dishwasher, and an outside utility room with a washing machine and tumble-dryer.

The house has a huge semi-circular patio from which one can almost reach out and touch the sea and watch whales and dolphins cavorting in the bay. There is a sheltered garden with lots of bird life in the front and a sunny courtyard and herb garden at the back. Beautiful sea and mountain views can be enjoyed from every room. The property has an alarm system, is serviced weekly or more often by arrangement, offers a lush garden, and secure off-street parking for up to four cars.

The house is decorated in a simple, uncluttered style where every effort has been made to retain the integrity of the house as a fine example of an early South African home. All bedrooms have French doors opening onto the courtyard or patio, and all linen, towels, and beach towels are supplied.
