Kingsbury Cottage is situated on the edge of the vineyards, offering stunning views of the upper reaches of the Breede River Valley and surroundings. It is located in the foothills of the Silkbush Peak, located 36 km from Worcester towards Ceres.
The cottage has two bedrooms, one furnished with a queen-size bed and the other with two three-quarter beds. Additionally, there is a comfortable double sleeper couch in the office, should an extra bed be needed. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a bath. Linen and towels are provided.
The cottage features an open-plan living and dining area with a fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble-dryer. Underfloor heating throughout the house and a cozy fireplace in the lounge provide warmth during winter, while air-conditioning and ceiling fans in all rooms keep the heat out during summer. The living room is equipped with a TV with DStv, a sound system, and a DVD player. The office has Wi-Fi access and a printer, catering to those needing to attend to business matters. Guests are required to bring their own laptops.
Outside, guests can enjoy stunning sunsets on the long stoep, and an outdoor braai area is available. A five-seater Jacuzzi is set in the garden, where guests can soak away stress while watching the mountain slopes turn pink as the sun sets. The surrounding garden is mostly indigenous fynbos, attracting a large number of birds for bird lovers. Bass fishing can be done in the upper dam (guests need to bring their own rods), or guests can take the kayak for a spin. Hiking on the farm is safe, and the more adventurous can start the Witels hiking trail on the farm. Access to the UCT Mountain and ski club runs over the farm, and permits from UCT are required for those fit enough to hike up the mountain with their snowboards. Silkbush is also the home of the annual Breu00ebrivier Mountain Bike Challenge, and mountain bikers can enjoy riding parts of this trail.
The owners believe that anyone enjoying a stay at Kingsbury Cottage will feel like they own Silkbush Mountain Vineyard, even if it is only for a few days. Most days, the sunrises are spectacular, the birds serve as an alarm clock, and the sunsets are breathtaking.
