Kleinfontein farm is situated in the northern Cederberg Mountains at the foot of the Pakhuis Pass, accessible via the R364 from Clanwilliam. The property offers two self-catering accommodation options: Witkaree, a two-bedroom unit with an open-plan kitchen and living room that accommodates up to five guests, and Klipspringer, a one-room studio unit featuring a living area, kitchenette, and en-suite bathroom.
The farm's location is notable for its proximity to De Pakhuys and Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve. The landscape is characterized by distinctive reddish sandstone rock formations, which historically provided shelter for the San people, whose preserved rock art remains a significant cultural treasure. During winter months, mountain springs and rainfall transform the Mediterranean fynbos vegetation into a vibrant display of colors and greenery.
Kleinfontein boasts diverse wildlife, including leopards, rock hyraxes (dassies), klipspringers, duikers, aardvarks, and porcupines. The area is also home to notable bird species, including the Verreaux's eagle, known locally as the black eagle or witkruis arend. One of the accommodation units is an off-the-grid mountain cottage, equipped with basic amenities including a kitchen with a fridge, en-suite bathroom with hot water, and provided linens and towels. The property offers visitors a peaceful retreat in a setting of natural beauty and historical significance.
