Kololo Game Reserve is a 1500-hectare malaria-free and child-friendly nature reserve located in the Waterberg nature area of Limpopo, the northernmost province of South Africa. It is situated close to the village of Vaalwater, approximately 36 kilometers away, with 29 kilometers of the journey being on an untarred road. The reserve is about a 3.5-hour drive from Oliver Tambo International Airport.

The reserve derives its name from the Sotho word "Kololo," meaning Klipspringer, a small antelope species that is featured in the reserve's logo. It offers a diverse range of natural habitats, including rocky hills, rivers, forests, and savannah, home to various animals such as giraffes, kudu, impala, baboons, zebras, warthogs, eland, and over 300 bird species.

Visitors can explore the reserve on marked paths by walking or biking, allowing them to come face-to-face with the animals. Guided safari tours are also available, conducted by experienced rangers who provide insightful information about the birdlife, animals, vegetation, and other interesting aspects of the African bush. These tours are conducted in open safari trucks that can accommodate up to 10 guests and offer protection from the sun and rain.

Kololo Game Reserve is situated within the Waterberg area, a beautiful nature area that has been declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. The reserve is a member of the "Waterberg Biosphere" project, adhering to strict requirements for maintaining the original state of the park, implementing economic and ecological measures for protecting nature, and contributing to local poverty alleviation through education initiatives.

The Waterberg region supports a biome of approximately 14,500 square kilometers, encompassing a diverse range of landscapes including bushveld, savannas, mountains, gorges, cliffs, open fields, wetlands, streams, and rivers. This rich diversity of flora and fauna provides an ideal habitat for a wide variety of game, including impala, kudu, red hartebeest, blue wildebeest, zebras, eland, nyala, waterbuck, giraffes, blesbok, bushbuck, and smaller species such as duikers, mountain reedbuck, klipspringers, steenbok, bush pigs, and warthogs. Bird watchers can enjoy over 300 indigenous bird species in the area.
