Kosi Forest Lodge

Kosi Forest Lodge is a 16-bedded luxury accommodation situated in Kosi Bay Nature Reserve. It offers guests the opportunity to canoe the Kosi Lake system, go snorkeling, explore beaches, take boat trips on the Kosi Lakes, and participate in Rafia Forest walks. The lodge is located in an area that is home to the Palm Nut Vulture and Pel's Fishing Owl, allowing keen birders to explore the Raffia Palm Forest and Sihadla River banks at their leisure.

Guests can experience iLala Palm wine making and tasting, or savor this Maputaland specialty in the chef's cuisine. All excursions are conducted with trained guides in open-air vehicles. Accommodations consist of luxurious thatched bedrooms hidden in the sand forest, featuring unique open-air en-suite bathrooms that have been noted as a highlight by guests. Each bedroom is lined with mosquito netting.

Rates include all meals, teas and coffees, a guided canoe trip, a guided walk in the raffia forest, and a sun down experience. Fees are charged for entering the Kosi Bay Nature Reserve and for using personal 4-wheel drive vehicles. The lodge can only be reached by four-wheel drive vehicles, with transfers available twice daily from the Total Garage in Manguzi. The dress code is casual, and guests are advised to bring sun block, suitable footwear for walking through swampy areas, a windbreaker/raincoat, hat, torch, and mosquito repellent. Snorkeling gear is provided, but enthusiasts may prefer to bring their own. It is important to note that this is a malaria area.

The Kosi Forest experience includes bird watching, exploring lakes and waterways on guided canoes or day trips on motor boats, watching hippos, crocodiles, and flocks of flamingoes at sunset. Activities range from relaxing in lantern-lit outdoor bathrooms to dining under the stars in this unique forest venue with its waterwonderland to explore. All activities are family-friendly, and the lodge offers two family units with interleading rooms.

Double rooms, excluding levies, offer comfortable accommodation in wood, thatch, and canvas chalets located into the sand forest. These rooms feature romantic outdoor boma bathrooms as well as inside showers, toilets, and basins. The rooms are equipped with wall fans.
