Kwetu Guest Farm

Kwetu Guest Farm is a tranquil and peaceful farm located in Buffeljagsrivier, 11kms outside of Swellendam, the third oldest town in South Africa. The farm is situated amidst fruit orchards and offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The name "Kwetu" is derived from the Swahili language and means "Coming home" or "Place of Safety".

The farm features a variety of roaming game, including two giraffes named Melvin and Sophie, a herd of wildebeest led by a beautiful golden male, kudu, eland, waterbuck, springbok, bontebok, sable, and a couple of ostriches. Guests can enjoy the peaceful surroundings and witness these animals roaming freely across the 87-hectare property.

Kwetu Guest Farm offers three comfortable, self-catering, one-bedroom cottages, two of which are located alongside a dam. Additionally, there are two one-bedroom apartments available for rent at the main house, as well as a family room that can accommodate four guests, with a double bed and two single beds. While these rooms are not situated on the farm itself, guests have full access to the farm's amenities.

The farm provides ample opportunities for outdoor activities, including walking, jogging, or cycling across the 87 hectares of land. Guests are encouraged to bring mountain bikes, hiking boots, and fishing rods or simply relax with a good book and a sun hat. Picnic baskets can be arranged for R200 per person with 24 hours' notice. All areas of the farm are easily accessible by a family vehicle, allowing guests to observe the freely roaming animals.

Kwetu Guest Farm offers stunning sunset views from various picnic areas, and all the cottages face the mountain, providing breathtaking vistas of orchards and farmlands enveloped by the majestic Langeberge mountain range. The farm is an ideal destination for fishing, hiking, cycling, swimming, and catch-and-release fishing is generally practiced, but guests can keep a few fish if desired. Children can also participate in feeding the farm animals.

The nearby Witsand beach is just an hour's drive away, with easy access by turning left when exiting the farm. One of the self-catering cottages, fully equipped and offering stunning views of mountains and game, can accommodate up to five people in a double bed in the en-suite bedroom and three single beds in the living area. This cottage also features a wood-fired hot tub and an outdoor braai area on the patio. Kwetu Guest Farm is pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their furry companions along.
