La Playa

The beach-style self-catering house, referred to as 'La Playa', is situated in the small village of Scarborough, which is considered the safest suburb of Cape Town. It is located on the Atlantic Sea Board, approximately 35 minutes' drive from Cape Town's city center. Scarborough is a conservation village surrounded by mountains, the sea, and the Cape Point Nature Reserve to the south, offering a wide variety of flora, fauna, and wildlife for nature lovers to enjoy.

The village provides an excellent base for exploring the natural beauty of the Cape Peninsula, including Table Mountain and the Winelands. Nearby, visitors can find some of the Cape's most beautiful beaches, numerous good restaurants, and golf courses. A comprehensive shopping complex with cinemas is located at Long Beach Mall, approximately 15 minutes' drive away. The area offers various activities such as surfing, kite-surfing, windsurfing, scuba-diving, golf, tennis, hiking, mountain biking, horse/camel riding, cycling, spearfishing, fishing (permits required for musseling and cray fishing), shark diving, and sailing.

The house itself is architect-designed in an Australian style and is situated in the mountains, surrounded by pristine fynbos vegetation. The decor features an organic beach style with beautiful driftwood and mosaic finishes. The setting is very private, with a wind-sheltered patio and magnificent, never-ending views. At night, the lack of street lights in Scarborough allows for stunning views of the night sky.

The house features one very large en-suite bedroom with reed ceilings and spectacular views of the beach, as well as two other bedrooms u2013 one with a double bed and the other with a single bed, with an option for additional beds. The bedrooms share a spacious bathroom. The open-plan dining and living area includes a large 12-seat dining room table, and the fully-equipped kitchen features a gas hob and oven, dishwasher, and microwave. Other amenities include a TV, DVD player, VCR, built-in fireplace, outdoor shower, rustic barbecue, hammocks, CD player, broadband internet, and a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer. Daily servicing can be arranged upon request.

The Southern Right Whales can be easily viewed from the house throughout the summer months, from August to December.
