Lake Heron

Lake Heron is a game and trout farm situated in the Elandskloof Valley, approximately 19 kilometers from the village of Dullstroom. It offers two trophy fishing dams, Lake Heron (2 hectares) and Lake Troy (3 hectares), which are stocked with rainbow and brown trout. Fishing is on a catch and release basis only, with fly tackle and barbless hooks required. Each cottage is equipped with a small rowing boat, basic rod and reel, and a catch and release net for guests' use.

The farm is fully game-fenced and home to various wildlife species, including eland, black wildebeest, fallow deer, mountain reedbuck, blessbuck, waterbuck, springbuck, duikers, and bush pigs. Visitors may encounter these animals in the vicinity of the fruit trees or hear them at night around the cottages.

Lake Heron Game and Trout Farm features a clay pigeon shooting range, operated by a CTSASA registered service provider. It also has a 120-seater wedding and function center that offers catering services upon request. Standard amenities in the cottages include coffee, tea, mineral water, complimentary sherry, red and white wine, juice, milk, a small cheese board, crackers, firewood, charcoal, and lighters. There is no service provided during weekends as no staff resides on the farm.

Pets are allowed in certain cottages, with a maximum of two dogs per cottage. Dogs are permitted to sleep inside but must be kept off the furniture and beds. They should be free of ticks and fleas upon arrival. Owners are responsible for their pets and must pay for any damages caused by them prior to departure. Only one unit, Starry Krowa, is pet-friendly for large breed dogs, while the other two units on the farm only allow small dogs.
