Laughing Gecko Lodge

Laughing Gecko Lodge is a welcoming retreat nestled in the subtropical coastal forest of Southbroom, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Located just a five-minute walk from tranquil beaches, the lodge offers guests a perfect blend of coastal living and small-town convenience, with stunning views over the Imbezane River.

The accommodation features various room options to suit different needs. The Baobab Suite is a family unit with a king room, private lounge, kitchenette, and en-suite bathroom. Other options include the Jade Room for couples, the Coral Room with a king bed, the Loft Room with twin beds, and the Sun Room with a double bunk. The Bougainvillea Flat, situated downstairs, offers two double rooms and a bunk room, complete with private patio, river views, and pool access.

All rooms come equipped with essential amenities including linen, towels, tea and coffee facilities, free WiFi, ceiling fans, and daily housekeeping (Monday to Friday). Select rooms feature full DStv bouquet for entertainment.

The lodge's facilities include a covered outdoor patio perfect for sunset viewing, a swimming pool with sun loungers, and a deck with additional dining space. Inside, guests have access to a comfortable lounge with DStv, books, and board games, plus a fully equipped shared kitchen with dining area. The property also features the Gecko bar for evening refreshments, and breakfast services are available upon request.

Southbroom itself is a pristine coastal village boasting 4 kilometers of Indian Ocean beachfront, protected coastal bush, and no high-rise developments. The area features two swimming beaches, tidal pools, and is home to the Southbroom Golf Club and Frederika Nature Preserve. The village offers basic retail facilities, with more comprehensive shopping available in nearby Ramsgate, Margate, and Shelly Beach.
