Lazy 8 River Lodge

The Lazy 8 River Lodge is situated 22 kilometers outside of Ugie, offering awe-inspiring views of the Prentjiesberg and Drakensberg mountains. It is a working cattle ranch that provides a variety of amazing outdoor activities. The lodge allows guests to unwind with the river flowing below the house.

The lodge offers guided fly fishing or the opportunity for experienced anglers to explore the river themselves, with more than 15 kilometers of private river full of wild rainbow trout in both the Big and Small Mooiriver. Guests can take a drive to the natural yellowwood forest, which features an amazing waterfall and natural pool for swimming.

The lodge accommodates 4x4 enthusiasts with awesome routes, and motorbikes are also welcome. There are great mountain biking and hiking trails, and guests can laze about on the river with provided tubes. Visitors are welcome to bring their own horses to enjoy during their holiday. The area is home to a huge variety of birdlife.

The eco-friendly house runs on solar power with a "donkey" boiler for hot water. It is fully self-catering and features lovely luxury furnishings and finishes. Guests can gaze at the stars with their partners or order a romantic picnic to enjoy next to the river or at the waterfall. With limited signal and power, the focus is on quality time together.

The solar power and limited signal encourage family time, with activities like horseback riding, fishing, hiking, swimming, or picnics next to the river. When booking, the price includes the whole house, which offers four rooms with amazing views. Two rooms have double beds, one room has two single beds, and one room has three single beds. There are also two bathrooms.
