Leliekloof Lodge is situated on a working farm in the Stormberg Mountains of the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Set within a remarkable valley dubbed the 'Valley of Art' by Walter Battiss, the father of South African Impressionism, the lodge sits at an impressive altitude of 1800m where the Skulpspruit river has carved a stunning gorge through sandstone and dolerite hills.
The lodge offers self-catering accommodation in a main farmhouse featuring two en-suite bedrooms and a rondavel with a private bathroom, accommodating up to 10 guests. The property maintains an exclusive booking policy, hosting only one group at a time regardless of size, ensuring a private and personalized farm holiday experience. The accommodation includes a fully equipped kitchen and a lounge with an alpine fireplace, complete with ample firewood for guests' comfort.
Visitors can engage in numerous activities including guided rock art excursions, fishing, bird watching, cycling, hiking, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, and wild swimming. Due to the high altitude, guests are advised to bring warm clothing even during summer months, as temperatures can drop significantly. A minimum stay of two days is recommended to fully experience the location, and vehicles with high ground clearance are suggested for access. Essential items for guests to bring include cameras, binoculars, appropriate footwear, sun protection, and warm clothing.
