L'Ermitage Quagga Lodge is located on the banks of the Berg River, just outside Velddrif on the Cape West Coast. It offers a luxurious, unspoiled Cape West Coast getaway. Velddrif is situated approximately 145 kilometers north of Cape Town, surrounded by popular destinations like Langebaan, Port Owen, and Paternoster. The lodge is situated near the point where the meandering Berg River flows into the ocean.

L'Ermitage Quagga Lodge consists of five modern chalets overlooking the river. Each chalet has two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a spacious lounge and dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, as well as inside and outside BBQ facilities. The chalets offer complimentary Wi-Fi, DSTV satellite channels, and ceiling fans. They are booked on a self-catering basis.

The lodge is home to approximately 40 Quaggas, which have been re-bred from extinction. It also has other rare species roaming its plains, including the Blonde Wildebeest, Blonde Gemsbok (Oryx), Sable, Springbok, and Buffalo. The Berg River estuary is an important bird habitat, housing around 30,000 birds. Daily game drives are available for guests at an additional fee, offering a rare opportunity to see these beautiful animals in their natural habitat.

In an effort to protect the environment, the lodge strives to save water and energy, and does not interfere with the harmonic natural cycle of its surroundings. The chalets have been designed and built to be 100% dependent on solar power to generate electricity throughout the year. An impressive backup system ensures that guests will never be without electricity. The lodge also has its own borehole water and water filtration system.

The modern one-bedroom chalets consist of a spacious bedroom with en-suite bathrooms, a spacious lounge, dining area, and fully equipped kitchen, as well as an inside and outside BBQ area with a patio.
