The Lookout Safari Lodge is located within the malaria-free Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve, situated a short 30-minute drive from Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, or approximately 70 minutes' drive from O.R. Tambo International Airport. The name of the lodge derives from the view offered from the central lodge area, which overlooks a natural dam that attracts various game species, including the Big 5, allowing guests to enjoy game sightings from the comfort of the lodge area.

The lodge is designed around a central entertainment area raised on a high platform, ensuring unsurpassed views over the bush. The entertainment area offers a seating and viewing area, dining area for 10, and a fully equipped kitchen and built-in braai. The fire pit next to the swimming pool and entertainment area allows for evenings spent under the stars around a crackling fire. During the day, guests can soak up the summer sun lounging next to the splash pool. If game viewing is no longer an option, the lounge also offers DSTV facilities.

The Lookout Safari Lodge offers 4 luxury non-smoking self-catering tented chalets, each uniquely designed to cater for privacy and maximize the bush experience for visiting guests. The en-suite chalets are ideally suited for a couple's romantic weekend getaway. Each chalet has a small equipped kitchen, a patio dining area, and its own private bushveld boma and braai/barbeque facility, providing the opportunity to enjoy the perfect campfire under starry African skies.

The lodge can also be booked in its entirety by small groups or friends, whether a family gathering for a special event or an executives' "bos beraad" or "lekgotla". Guests visiting the Lookout Safari Lodge have the option to view game in the comfort of their own vehicle through self-drive game viewing routes offered by the Dinokeng Game Reserve or to book a game drive conducted in an open safari game viewer vehicle. Notwithstanding the Big 5 roaming the area, the lodge and its surroundings are a birder's paradise, ideal for bird watching.

The lodge does not cater for weddings, but the wedding party can stay in perfect harmony with nature away from the hustle and bustle of the preparations at one of the wedding venues in close proximity. A mobile spa service is recommended, where therapists come to the lodge and offer massages in the privacy of the chalets or outside overlooking the bush (outsourced service provider). Guests can experience the bush and free-roaming game through open safari vehicle excursions or from the luxury of the lodge viewing deck, overlooking the waterhole. Game drives can be booked with informed guides (outsourced service provider).

The five luxurious open-plan suites with a freestanding bath and outdoor veranda offer an elegant bush experience. Blinds instead of walls can be retracted to create an open space where guests can enjoy their downtime and soak in the surrounding bush. Children over 12 are accommodated; one of the rooms can be converted into a family suite with a pull-out bed for children to share a room with their parents. The family chalet also features a pull-out sleeper couch for children sharing the unit. The Deluxe chalets were designed to offer a full bush experience with canvas blinds opening onto a veranda and deck with a private jacuzzi. The kitchenette is fully equipped with a snappy chef plate, small fridge, microwave, and a private braai area.
