Makakatana Bay Lodge is a family-owned and operated establishment situated on the western shores of Lake St Lucia, within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The lodge offers guests the opportunity to experience the unspoiled beaches, vast wetlands, game drives, and an unforgettable boat cruise on Lake St Lucia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is home to more than 1,000 hippos and 1,200 crocodiles, and guests can embark on personalized adventure-filled safaris exploring this treasured park.

The passionate rangers at Makakatana Bay Lodge guide full-day safaris that allow visitors to explore the wetlands, coastal dune forests, pristine beaches, and observe wildlife, including over 500 bird species. This is a unique destination where guests can enjoy bush, beach, and wetland safaris. The lodge offers a fully inclusive package that includes all in-house activities, such as afternoon wetland game drives, full-day boat and Western Shores safaris, full-day beach and Eastern Shores safaris, and morning game drives.

Makakatana Bay Lodge is a small and intimate establishment with only eight suites, making it an ideal destination for family escapes to the bush, beach, and wetlands within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage site. Children aged 6 to 12 pay 50% of the regular rate, and children under 6 are accepted upon request when part of a family group, subject to the child policy. The lodge offers full-day safaris to the Eastern Shores beaches, which include a safari game drive, beach visit, and picnic lunch within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. The suites feature one king-size bed in the main room and a separate kids' room with two 3/4 beds, as well as a shared bathroom, outdoor shower, and bath.
