Makongo Hills

Makongo Hills is an exclusive Big 5 game reserve situated in the historic Mkuze Valley Wilderness of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The property encompasses fifteen thousand hectares (37,000 acres) of pristine African wilderness across the Mkuze River, on land that holds significant historical importance as a Zulu battleground from 1840, where the Battle of Maqongqo between Dingane and Mpande took place.

The lodge is one of only two accommodations within this vast malaria-free reserve, offering an intimate wildlife experience in a biodiversity hotspot. The property features diverse habitats including riparian thicket, acacia woodland, Zululand lowveld, tall grassveld, riverine sand forest, and rolling savannah, supporting a rich variety of indigenous flora and fauna.

Accommodating up to 10 guests, Makongo Hills provides a home-away-from-home atmosphere with locally-inspired cuisine.
