Makongo Hills is an Eco-Lodge and BIG5 retreat located in the Mkuze Valley Wilderness, one of only two lodges on this 15,000 hectare reserve. It offers breathtaking views and big skies in a malaria-free, secluded, biodiversity area that is home to the Big 5 and a large variety of other animals and birdlife. The lodge provides affordable accommodation for 10 guests, making it suitable for couples, small groups, or families with older children. It is a fully catered lodge, and the meals are prepared with a proudly local flavor.
Makongo Hills is passionate about conservation and sustainability. As an off-the-grid lodge, it works to reduce its carbon footprint. The lodge is particularly involved in the upliftment and upskilling of the local community, as well as in projects to protect rhinos. Everyone at the lodge, from the cooks to the rangers, works hard to tailor an experience that will allow guests to find their piece of wild-heaven.
The lodge offers a lovely rondavel with a king-size bed in a perfectly private part of the garden. The unit also has an en-suite bathroom shower.
