Malachite Manor

Malachite Manor is a four-star, AA Superior rated luxury boutique Guest Lodge. It is situated in the 'Barriers of Spears' uKhahlamba region of the Southern Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site, one of only 23 sites in the world that holds the Prestigious World Heritage Status for both its biodiversity and cultural heritage. The Manor is located along the 'River of Chiefs' Umzimkulu River.

The owner, Mike Pieterse, designed and handcrafted the Manor using Pin Oak, Cypress, and Kiaat timber sourced from the surrounding forests. The Manor features a unique combination of traditional, contemporary, and comfortable elements, including spacious rooms, intimate dining, a cozy bar with a fireplace for colder mountain nights, and a gallery library for lazy days.

The six tastefully decorated rooms cater to guests' needs and are designed to create a relaxing, tranquil space. Each room is individually designed and situated in the main lodge building, with terraces offering beautiful mountain views and landscaped gardens. Guests can enjoy scrumptious breakfasts and intimate a la Carte dinners in the Manor or at the nearby 'Speakeasy, Boma, Bar & Grill', situated next to one of the beautiful dams.

Malachite Manor is surrounded by a wonderful array of activities for guests to experience during their stay, including hiking, birding, canoeing, horse-riding, fishing, and cycling. The Legendary Sani Pass is within close proximity, boasting the highest pub in Africa at 3000m once you reach the top. The Malachite Manor team is delighted to welcome guests and arrange any activities to enhance their stay.

The Luxury Double Room is situated on the ground floor and features a queen-size extra-length bed. It overlooks the Manor gardens, rolling lawns, dams, and mountain range beyond. The room has a full open-plan bathroom leading off the bedroom, with a shower, bath, basin, and separate toilet.
