Massingir Safaris is an exclusive wildlife destination situated on 8,000 hectares in the Massingir District of Mozambique. The property features diverse landscapes including bushveld scrub, open savanna, and magnificent trees, providing habitat for numerous species of fauna and flora.
The reserve hosts approximately 250 buffalo alongside various other wildlife including zebra, wildebeest, kudu, nyala, impala, grey duiker, steenbok, vervet monkeys, and baboons. Occasional visitors include elephant, leopard, and hyena. The area is also renowned for its rich birdlife.
The property offers two distinct accommodation options. Hardekool Camp, located 5km from the main gate, features four private bungalows set within a fenced indigenous bushveld garden. Each bungalow includes an overhead fan, en-suite facilities, and a verandah. The camp provides a communal pool and a lookout hide overlooking a frequented waterhole. Meals are provided at this camp, with a mandatory dinner service.
Nyala Tented Bush Camp, situated 7km from Hardekool Camp, offers a more immersive bush experience in an unfenced clearing. It comprises five safari tents, each accommodating two guests with overhead fans, partially open-air facilities, and private verandahs. The camp features a communal kitchen for self-catering, an open-air boma, and a covered elevated deck with a splash pool.
Both camps operate entirely off-grid using solar power. The property is accessible from either the Giriyondo Border Post (25km from Massingir Town) or from Chokwe (75km from the Massingir turnoff). Facilities include a dining area, bar, boma, swimming pool, and various viewing points, ensuring guests experience both comfort and authentic wildlife encounters.
