Mbizi Bush Lodge

Mbizi Bush Lodge is a family-owned and operated luxury safari lodge situated in the Balule Nature Reserve, Mpumalanga, South Africa. The exclusive boutique lodge is nestled in the African bush within a low-risk malaria zone, offering an authentic atmosphere and warm hospitality.

The lodge is part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem, with open borders to Kruger National Park, and is located just 25 km from the Phalaborwa gate. The unfenced property allows guests to observe the Big Five and other wildlife from their private verandas or the main house's viewing deck overlooking a waterhole.

The accommodation consists of spacious 42-square-meter air-conditioned rooms, each featuring an ensuite bathroom, private terrace, mini bar, and overhead fan. The lodge offers both single and double occupancy options, with a minimum age requirement of 5 years for guests.

Dining is a highlight at Mbizi, featuring a fusion of traditional African cuisines and Asian flavors prepared with fresh local ingredients. Meals include a two-course breakfast and three-course dinner, served in the main dining area overlooking an illuminated waterhole or in the outdoor dining area under the stars.

Activities available include morning and afternoon game drives in the Balule reserve, full-day trips to Kruger National Park, hot air balloon safaris, river safaris on the Olifants River, visits to the Moholoholo rehabilitation centre, tours of the Panorama Route, and golfing at Hans Merensky Golf Estate. All game drives are conducted by fully certified rangers.

The lodge is accessible via a five-hour drive from Johannesburg and is positioned just off the R40 between Nelspruit and Phalaborwa. The property features WiFi access, an outdoor pool, and complimentary parking for guests.
