Mermaid Guest House

Mermaid Guest House is a charming 4-star bed & breakfast establishment located in Struisbaai, Western Cape, South Africa, just 400 meters from the main swimming beach. The property is situated five kilometers from the southernmost tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet.

The guest house features eight uniquely themed rooms, including six en-suite rooms with sea views on the first floor and two family units on the ground floor. All rooms are equipped with modern amenities including air conditioning and mini-bars. The larger family units can accommodate groups of up to six and four people respectively.

The facility includes a fully licensed restaurant with seating for 30 guests, an indoor braai/barbecue area, and a conference room that can host up to 20 people. Guests can enjoy the swimming pool during summer or relax by the fireplace in winter months.

Struisbaai itself offers numerous attractions, including the longest uninterrupted white sandy beach in the Southern Hemisphere, the historic Cape Agulhas Lighthouse, and the local harbor, home to Parrie the Stingray, the area's beloved mascot. The region is known for its magnetic anomaly, being one of only three places globally where compasses point to true North rather than magnetic North.

Visitors can engage in various activities including whale watching, deep-sea fishing, kitesurfing, hiking the Rasperpunt Trail, and exploring the Agulhas National Park. The area is also rich in history, with over 250 recorded shipwrecks along its coastline. The guest house has been recognized for its excellence, receiving a Certificate of Excellence Award for Struisbaai Accommodation in 2019.
