The Meteorite Rest Camp is situated in the Otjihaenena Valley and Maize Triangle region, encompassing Grootfontein, Tsumeb, and Otavi. This fertile area is notable for its white maize production, which serves as a staple food for the indigenous population, alongside significant cattle farming operations.
Located just three kilometers from the historic Hoba meteorite impact site, dating back approximately 80,000 years, the camp provides an ideal stopover location for travelers en route to Waterberg, Etosha, Kavango, and Caprivi. The farm setting offers visitors an authentic African experience, characterized by peaceful nights, starlit skies, and the distant calls of jackals.
The agricultural calendar features planting from December to January, with harvesting occurring between June and July. During the summer months, guests can find respite from the heat beneath indigenous trees or in the swimming pool. The property is home to diverse birdlife, with significant gatherings of birds in the Juka Palms during winter months.
The on-site curio shop features Namibian-made artworks, and when available, offers wood, ice, game meat, biltong, homemade jams, chutneys, and frozen game or chicken stews. Wi-Fi connectivity is provided for guests in the main residential area.
