Mhlangeni Lodge

Mhlangeni Lodge is a captivating establishment situated on the banks of the St Michaels River. It was established in 2016 by Pieter and Celest du Plessis, who were inspired by the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland. The lodge underwent an extraordinary transformation, transforming it into a fairytale haven with meticulous attention to detail.

The renovations were remarkable, taking just one year to convert the once-modest B&B into a regal haven. The floors were replaced with gleaming white marble, and the furniture was swapped out for exquisite white pieces. Crystal chandeliers adorn the ceilings, casting a shimmering glow throughout the space. Comfortable seating areas and hallways adorned with breathtaking art and inspirational quotes create a truly enchanting atmosphere.

The creation of Wonderland was a collaborative effort, involving contributions from church members, local businesses, and other professionals. In January 2017, the lodge unveiled its captivating tea party and birthday celebration offerings, complete with an exquisite tea garden and a playground suitable for guests of all ages.

The accommodations at Mhlangeni Lodge offer privacy and luxury, with each room featuring an en-suite bathroom. The honeymoon suite stands out as a pinnacle of indulgence, adorned with sumptuous rose gold furnishings and a matching bathroom, creating an unforgettable setting for newlyweds.

Guests can also choose to stay in the Rabbit's Cottage, a charming self-catering unit with two bedrooms, or the MushRoom, an open-plan sanctuary with an en-suite bathroom and a private terrace, perfect for a romantic getaway. The lodge features a sparkling swimming pool, a sun-kissed pool deck overlooking the St Michaels River and Shelly Swimming Beach, and the Wonderland Spa, offering pampering treatments and unique nail designs.
