Millgate Cottage

Millgate Cottage is a charming self-catering establishment nestled in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, strategically positioned off the R103 between Nottingham Road and Howick. The property spans five acres and offers diverse accommodation options including self-catering cottages, suites, and a farmhouse, all set against the backdrop of the Drakensberg Mountains.

The accommodation consists of two self-catering cottages featuring modern amenities including fully equipped kitchens, DStv channels, verandas, and braai facilities. Three suites are available, with two offering self-catering capabilities, all equipped with fans, heaters, and televisions with M-Net access. These suites overlook a verdant garden backed by forest.

The farmhouse is split into two sections accommodating up to five and nine people respectively, each with comprehensive kitchen facilities. Though the establishment maintains recommended occupancy limits, additional single beds can be arranged in all rooms to accommodate larger groups.

The property features The Crafty Mole, Balgowan's local pub, which specializes in local craft beer and offers entertainment including pool, darts, and putt putt. The venue can host special events such as garden weddings and family gatherings, with facilities including a bar, dining room, and catering kitchen.

Millgate Cottage serves as a wildlife sanctuary, home to various species including duiker, bush and reed buck, mongoose, porcupines, and vervet monkeys, making it ideal for bird watching enthusiasts. Additional amenities include a nine-hole mini golf course, safe gardens, a bistro specializing in German cuisine, an art gallery, and a craft shop. The establishment accepts single-night bookings except during holiday periods, though pets are only permitted in specific cottages.
