Millgate Cottage

Millgate Cottage is a self-catering accommodation establishment located in the scenic KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, amid the beautiful countryside just off the R103 between Nottingham Road and Howick. It offers accommodation in self-catering cottages, suites, and a farmhouse for guests seeking relaxation and an opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

Millgate Cottage has two self-catering cottages equipped with modern kitchens that include stoves, microwaves, fridge-freezers, crockery, and cutlery. The cottages have selected DStv channels, verandas, and braai facilities, with views of the distant Drakensberg Mountains. Additionally, there are three suites, two of which have self-catering facilities, and all of them come with fans, heaters, and TVs with M-Net to ensure a pleasant stay. The suites offer views of a lush garden backed by a forest.

The large farmhouse is divided into two sections, one accommodating up to five people and the other up to nine people. Each section has its own fully equipped kitchen with a full-size stove, fridge, microwave, utensils, and a bathroom. The establishment limits the number of guests to three in the smaller section and four in the larger section, or the equivalent rate, but additional single beds can be added to all rooms.

For entertainment and socializing, guests can visit the establishment's pub, The Crafty Mole, which is Balgowan's local watering hole. The pub is stocked with a typical variety of beverages and specializes in locally-produced craft beer. It offers activities such as pool, darts, and a putt putt course. Millgate Cottage can accommodate more than 33 people for special events, such as garden weddings, significant birthdays, and friends and family gatherings, by utilizing sleeper couches. It has a bar, a dining room, an equipped catering kitchen, and large grounds.

Millgate Cottage is in close proximity to several well-known wedding venues and can accommodate up to 30 people in total. Its bar and dining room can be booked for private functions, and couples can choose to have their weddings in the lovely gardens. The establishment is a bird watcher's paradise and is home to various wildlife, including duiker, bush and reed buck, mongoose, porcupines, and vervet monkeys. It offers a nine-hole mini golf course and safe gardens. Additionally, there is a double-bedded room attached to the Tudor-style house with its own entrance, featuring an en-suite bathroom, fridge, microwave, tea and coffee-making facilities, and selected DStv channels. No pets are allowed on the premises.
