Misty Mountain

Misty Mountain is a 280-hectare South African Natural Heritage Site situated at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level on the spectacular Long Tom Pass. It is located 31 kilometers from Lydenburg and 24 kilometers from Sabie in a malaria-free area. The establishment is uniquely set in the mountainous countryside, offering majestic views across the escarpment and into the Lowveld.

Misty Mountain is conveniently situated on the "Panorama Route," making it an ideal base for exploring the Mpumalanga Escarpment, including attractions such as God's Window, The Pinnacle, Bourke's Luck Potholes, and Blyde River Canyon. It is also in close proximity to the world-renowned Kruger National Park and adjacent private game reserves.

The Sheard family has owned and operated Misty Mountain as a lodge since 1974, offering a relaxed, informal, and family-friendly environment. The establishment prides itself on being a tranquil and naturally beautiful place, ideal for getting away from the hustle and bustle. The friendly and helpful staff ensure that guests have a memorable stay.

Misty Mountain caters to couples and families with various accommodation options, including bed and breakfast units for two, four, and six sleepers. The ten-bed farmhouse is self-catering, but guests can enjoy meals at the restaurant if desired. The restaurant specializes in superior country cooking, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner from an extensive a la carte menu.

The accommodation at Misty Mountain includes 14 Studio Units for two people, 11 Four Sleeper Family Units for up to four people, two Six Sleeper Family Units for up to six people, and one self-catering farmhouse accommodating up to ten people. All units feature comfortable, country-style amenities like open fireplaces, private verandas, and braai facilities.

On-site activities at Misty Mountain include guided quad biking, trout fishing, walking trails, birdwatching, and mountain biking trails. Nearby locations offer soft adventure and extreme activities that can be arranged for guests. The establishment can accommodate up to 80 guests for functions, with a gazebo or chapel for ceremonies, a function room, waiters, and various menu options.
