Mkhaya Game Reserve, located in the southeastern lowveld of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), is a unique African wildlife sanctuary renowned for its intimate wildlife encounters and conservation efforts. The reserve is specifically focused on protecting endangered species and has become one of Africa's most successful conservation stories.

The reserve features Stone Camp, a distinctive accommodation facility set within a riverine forest. The camp consists of 12 semi-open units constructed with stone and thatch, deliberately designed without doors or windows to create an immersive natural experience. The camp operates without electricity, utilizing candlelight and paraffin lanterns, with hot water provided by gas geysers and limited solar power for essential operations.

Mkhaya is home to Eswatini's only populations of buffalo, sable antelope, and tsessebe, alongside black and white rhino, giraffe, and roan antelope. The reserve has earned recognition for having one of Africa's most effective anti-poaching units, staffed entirely by local Swazi community members. The reserve has received notable awards, including the AA's 'Travellers Value Award for Top-End Leisure Travellers'.

The habitat comprises savanna biome with thickets and semi-deciduous forests along watercourses. The reserve features diverse vegetation including endemic Aloe species and various indigenous trees. The wildlife experience is enhanced by exceptional birdlife, including species such as the Purple-crested Touraco, Narina Trogan, and various Robin-chats.

All activities within the reserve are guided, conducted either by open Land Rovers or on foot. The reserve operates on set arrival and departure times, with various package options available for visitors. Walking safaris, game drives, and bush trails are offered, providing opportunities for close wildlife encounters and nature interpretation. The minimum age requirement for visitors is 10 years, with walking safaris restricted to those 13 and above.
