Mkomazana Mountain Cottages is an historical site located within a trans-frontier peace park, located at the foot of the Sani Pass in the beautiful Sani Valley. It is a nature lover's paradise and potentially the Southern Drakensberg's best-kept secret. The accommodation consists of two refurbished farmhouses from the 1800s era and three new cottages, offering a charming combination of eclectic facilities with all home comforts.

The property is perfectly situated for a range of outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, nature rambling, trout fishing, swimming in crystal clear mountain pools, mountain biking, and bird watching. Nearby activities include canoeing or tubing (approximately 20km away) and golf, squash, or tennis (approximately 4km away). While motorbikes and quads are not allowed on the property to preserve the serenity of the area, adventurous visitors can test their 4x4, mountain bike, or motorcycle skills on the famous and formidable Sani Pass, which leads up to the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. At the top of the Pass is the legendary "Sani Top Chalet," known as the highest pub in Africa.

The property features a diverse range of flora and fauna, including otters, baboons, reedbuck, eland, various bird species like the black eagle, bearded vulture, and fish eagle, as well as a provenance of people past, with history and bushman paintings. Other attractions include waterfalls, crystal clear mountain rivers and pools, and dams. It is noted that there is no television or cell phone reception on the premises.

One of the accommodations, known as Coot Cottage, is a charming thatched cottage with an open-plan lounge featuring a log fireplace, a dining room, and a kitchen overlooking a lake.
